%X The article analyzes the methodological potential and interrelationship of comparative philosophy and intercultural philosophy through the study of the phenomenon of tradition. It substantiates the distinction between a simple comparison of philosophical doctrines and comparative inquiry, arguing that comparative research should not be limited to identifying similarities and differences but should also explore possibilities for meaningful correspondence and dialogue among different philosophical traditions. The study identifies several methodological risks involved in comparing diverse cultural and philosophical systems, including neglecting context, interpreting functional similarity as ontological identity, and treating the West and the East as internally homogeneous systems. It also demonstrates the complementary role of such principles of intercultural philosophy as cognitive humility, unity without uniformity, tolerant pluralism, dialogue, and polylogue in comparative methodology. As a result, a contextual-dialogical model of intercultural comparison is proposed, integrating contextualization, the assessment of comparability, hermeneutic interpretation, and dialogical verification. This model makes it possible to analyze similarities among traditions without losing their historical and cultural specificity. %A Рахмат Каримов %R OJS:2552 %J Scientific and innovative research in the social and humanitarian sphere %D 2026 %T THE LIMITS OF COMPARISON IN COMPARATIVE AND INTERCULTURAL PHILOSOPHY: THE PHENOMENON OF TRADITION BETWEEN UNIVERSALISM AND PLURALISM %V 3 %N 9 %P 155-161 %L arxiv2381
