It explores the characteristics of night as a complex poetic category that extends beyond its conventional function as chronological time or a landscape element and expresses fundamental existential states such as inner experience, loneliness, separation, death, eternity, alienation, spiritual quest, and self-awareness. The study analyzes the works of Novalis and Emily Brontë as representatives of Western literature and those of Hafez Shirazi and Nima Yushij as representatives of Eastern literature. The comparative analysis demonstrates that in Western Romantic and modernist poetics, night is predominantly associated with death, transcendence, individual loneliness, and existential uncertainty, whereas in classical and modern Eastern literature it is more closely connected with separation, reunion, spiritual contemplation, spiritual quest, and socio-existential alienation. The article also examines the semantic functions of poetic oppositions such as night and dawn, darkness and light, across different literary and cultural traditions. The study substantiates the universal nature of the image of night as an existential symbol linking Western and Eastern literary thought.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2386"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2386_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
