%R OJS:2572 %T THE HISTORICAL DYNAMICS OF UZBEK-RUSSIAN BILINGUALISM IN UZBEKISTAN: A HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS OF SOVIET AND POST-SOVIET STUDIES %J Scientific and innovative research in the social and humanitarian sphere %D 2026 %X This article provides a historiographical analysis of scholarly literature devoted to the formation and transformation of Uzbek–Russian bilingualism in Uzbekistan. It comparatively examines how bilingualism, the social functions of the Russian language, preservation of the national language, educational policy, Russification, linguistic identity, and code-switching have been interpreted in domestic and international studies of the Soviet and independence periods. The scholarly perspectives of B. Silver, W. Fierman, N.A. Mustafaeva, G.N. Khaki and R.A. Sheikh, A. Dietrich, K. Aminov and co-authors, R.E. Zaripov, and S.V. Valappil are analyzed in order to trace the evolution of methodological approaches to the issue. The study reveals a methodological shift in the historiography of Uzbek–Russian bilingualism from the examination of state language policy toward the study of social language practices, functional bilingualism, identity, and code-switching. At the same time, it highlights the lack of comprehensive studies that treat the Soviet and independence periods as a continuous historical process while simultaneously analyzing state policy alongside everyday and family language practices. %A Sayyoraxon Anvarova %L arxiv2393 %V 3 %N 9 %P 251-257
