It examines measures introduced after the establishment of the region to register land, impose taxation, and establish administrative control, as well as the impact of the 1886 Regulation on the Administration of the Turkestan Region on land relations and the adaptation of the traditional water-use system to the interests of the colonial administration. Land and water policy is assessed as a process closely interconnected with the expansion of cotton cultivation, the integration of the domestic market into the needs of imperial industry, and the strengthening of control over the local economy.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2395"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2395_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
