It examines views on the role of Turkestan women in society as reflected in the colonial-period press, their legal status within the framework of Sharia and local customs, traditional forms of girls’ education, the activities of otinoyi and bibiotin, and the development of new-method schools. Particular attention is paid to the views of Jadid intellectuals aimed at improving women’s literacy and involving them in education and enlightenment. The article also analyzes the activities of such prominent women educators as Dilshod Barno and Anbar Otin in girls’ education and the literary and cultural environment. The study demonstrates that the participation of Turkestan women in social and cultural life was not solely a product of the reforms of the early twentieth century but had historical foundations associated with traditional women’s education, family upbringing, and the local educational environment.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2409"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2409_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
