      "abstract": "This article is devoted to the study of moral issues in twentieth-century Russian literature. It examines the problem of individual moral choice in the context of historical upheavals, wars, revolutions, and social transformations. Drawing on N. V. Gogol\u2019s Taras Bulba, M. A. Bulgakov\u2019s The White Guard, M. A. Sholokhov\u2019s And Quiet Flows the Don, B. L. Vasilyev\u2019s The Dawns Here Are Quiet\u2026, V. V. Bykov\u2019s Sotnikov, and B. L. Pasternak\u2019s Doctor Zhivago, the article analyzes the central moral dilemmas faced by the characters: the relationship between personal feelings and social duty, love and responsibility, life and self-sacrifice, conscience and the desire for physical survival. Particular attention is paid to the characters\u2019 inner worlds and the consequences of the decisions they make. The study establishes that moral choice is one of the key means of revealing a character\u2019s personality and the author\u2019s conception of the human being.",
