It examines the problem of individual moral choice in the context of historical upheavals, wars, revolutions, and social transformations. Drawing on N. V. Gogol’s Taras Bulba, M. A. Bulgakov’s The White Guard, M. A. Sholokhov’s And Quiet Flows the Don, B. L. Vasilyev’s The Dawns Here Are Quiet…, V. V. Bykov’s Sotnikov, and B. L. Pasternak’s Doctor Zhivago, the article analyzes the central moral dilemmas faced by the characters: the relationship between personal feelings and social duty, love and responsibility, life and self-sacrifice, conscience and the desire for physical survival. Particular attention is paid to the characters’ inner worlds and the consequences of the decisions they make. The study establishes that moral choice is one of the key means of revealing a character’s personality and the author’s conception of the human being.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2417"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2417_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
