It explains the nature of the model and the interrelationship among its five phases: engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. The article examines how textbook materials and learning tasks align with these phases and considers their potential to develop pupils’ independent thinking, inquiry skills, and interest in learning.
