abstract: This article provides an in-depth examination of the theoretical and practicalaspects of improving the methodology for developing future engineers’ professionalcompetencies in technical higher education institutions based on the competency-basedapproach. The pedagogical, psychological, and methodological aspects of developingindependent thinking, problem-solving in complex and non-standard situations, digitaldesign skills, and the ability to work with innovative Industry 4.0 technologies in modernengineering education are analyzed. Furthermore, based on the results of experimentalstudies, practical proposals and improved methodological recommendations aimed atenhancing the quality of future engineers’ professional training have been developed.
