The study explores the denotative, connotative, associative, and communicative-pragmatic aspects of the concept of “horse” using a comparative-pragmatic analysis method. Drawing on Uzbek lexical units such as ot, tulpor, bedov, and arg‘umoq and their English equivalents, the article investigates the relationship between lexical equivalence and pragmatic adequacy. Furthermore, it analyzes the symbolic functions of the horse image in folklore, literary texts, and phraseological units, changes in cultural connotations during translation, and the ways in which communicative intentions are conveyed. The analysis identifies several patterns, including the relatively complete preservation of conceptual-pragmatic meaning, its partial neutralization, and contextual compensation. Cultural context, text genre, the target audience’s background knowledge, and the translator’s strategy are described as significant factors influencing the selection of translation equivalents. The findings demonstrate the necessity of ensuring not only semantic correspondence but also pragmatic adequacy when translating national and cultural concepts.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2579"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2579_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
