This article investigates the development of pedagogicalcriteria and a diagnostic model for comprehensively assessing the effectiveness ofstudents’ scientific research ability development. A distinctive feature of the study is itsinterpretation of scientific research ability not as a collection of separate knowledge andskills but as an integrated system of interconnected motivational-value, cognitive,operational-research, communicative-academic, and reflective-evaluative components.Comprehensive, competency-based, and activity-oriented approaches were applied inselecting diagnostic tasks and synthesizing assessment results. The proposed diagnosticmodel enables a holistic assessment of students’ research activities, encompassing theirattitudes toward scientific inquiry, identification of research problems, searching for andanalyzing scientific information, practical implementation of research tasks, communication of research findings, and reflective evaluation of their own performance. The results obtained through this approach provide a diagnostic foundation forquantitatively and qualitatively assessing the development of students’ scientific researchabilities, determining the effectiveness of pedagogical interventions, and improving theeducational process. date: 2026-10-13 type: Article type: NonPeerReviewed format: application/pdf language: en identifier: https://arxiv.publishscience.uz/2598/1/fulltext.pdf identifier: Tenelbayev, Ramazan (2026) PEDAGOGICAL CRITERIA FOR ASSESSING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ABILITIES.
