The study employs historical-comparative analysis, periodization, and source criticism. The findings identify four groups of factors: the socio-political environment, the crisis of traditional school and madrasah education, the tradition of ijtihad promoted by Utyz-Imyani and Kursavi, and Marjani’s personal educational experience in the madrasahs of Bukhara. Marjani’s five-point reform program is characterized by a shift in educational content from commentaries and glosses back to original sources, the introduction of secular disciplines, and the elevation of independent thinking to the status of a pedagogical principle. It was established that imperial policies during 1865–1870 formed the principal historical context for his subsequent activities and the period associated with Barudi.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2633"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2633_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
