Автор освещает феномен функционального двуязычия (диглоссии), сформировавшегося между арабским и тюркским языками в результате прихода к власти тюркской (кыпчакской) военной элиты. В исследовании обосновывается историческая необходимость возникновения филологических традиций-лексикографии и грамматических трудов (Абу Хайян, Калкашанди и др.) в условиях роли тюркских языков в военно-административной сфере и приоритета арабского языка в научной и религиозной среде.
