В рамках социолингвистического подхода язык рассматривается не только как средство коммуникации, но и как элемент социальной, культурной и институциональной идентичности. В турецкой модели азербайджанский язык преимущественно характеризуется активной коммуникативной и академической функцией, тогда как в узбекском контексте он существует в культурно-историческом и интерпретативном измерении.
