THE USE AND TRANSLATION FEATURES OF MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY IN NEWS MEDIA DISCOURSE (A CASE STUDY OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES)

This article provides a linguistic analysis of medical terminological units used in news media discourse, examining them through classification into semantic-thematic groups. It also explores, on a comparative basis, the main strategies employed in the process of translating such terms from English into Uzbek, including calquing, equivalence, explanatory translation, and lexical adaptation. The findings of the study demonstrate that medical terms in media discourse perform informative, pragmatic, and persuasive functions, and that their translation plays a crucial role in adapting content to the target audience.
