COGNITIVE-SEMANTIC FEATURES OF KINETIC UNITS EXPRESSED THROUGH LIP MOVEMENTS

This article analyzes the cognitive-semantic features of kinetic units expressed through lip movements in Uzbek and English. Lip movement is interpreted as a linguocognitive sign that represents emotion, attitude, evaluation, silence, irony, resentment, inner tension and communicative intention. Uzbek units such as “labini tishlamoq”, “labini qisib olmoq”, “labini burmoq”, “labini cho‘chchaytirmoq” and English units such as “to bite one’s lip”, “to press one’s lips together”, “to curl one’s lip”, “to pout”, “to smirk” are examined comparatively. The results show that the concept of lip movement is formed through the model of body, emotion, cognitive evaluation, verbal expression and cultural interpretation.
