TEXT AND ITS LINGUISTIC DESCRIPTION

This article analyzes the linguistic nature of the concept of “text”, focusing on its quantitative and formal characteristics. It explores the academic debate surrounding the boundaries of text and the differing perspectives among linguists regarding its manifestation in oral and written forms. the historical evolution of text linguistics as a distinct branch of general linguistics, highlighting its development in global and russian scholars during the mid-20th century. Key theoretical contributions from prominent scholars such as I.R. Galperin, V.V. Odinsov, and O.I. Moskalskaya are examined. The study elucidates the specific categories and research methodologies inherent to the study of text as a unique linguistic object.
