CLASSIFICATION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN NEWSPAPER STYLE

This article examines the use of phraseological units in newspaper style, the criteria for their classification, and their functional role in publicistic discourse. The issue is analyzed from linguistic and stylistic perspectives. The study focuses on the semantic, structural-grammatical, functional-stylistic, genre-related and pragmatic features of phraseological units. Particular attention is paid to the role of phraseologisms in concise information delivery, expression of evaluation, strengthening of expressiveness, influence on readers and enhancement of headline impact. Phraseological fusions, phraseological unities and phraseological combinations are explained through examples typical of newspaper discourse. The article concludes that phraseological units in newspaper style should be regarded not merely as figurative expressions, but also as linguo-stylistic and pragmatic means that participate in shaping public opinion.
