EDUCATIONAL CULTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA: A SOCIO-PEDAGOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE 수능 (SUNEUNG) EXAMINATION

This article examines the education culture in South Korea and the phenomenon of the national College Scholastic Ability Test (수능, Suneung). It analyzes historical and cultural roots of academic competition, the influence of Confucian values, the role of private academies (hagwon), and the socio-psychological pressure on students. The article emphasizes the advantages and disadvantages of the current system, as well as recent reforms and debates on the future of education in the country.
