STRUCTURAL AND COMPONENT-BASED DESCRIPTION OF THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE IN MOTHER TONGUE EDUCATION

This article analyzes the theoretical foundations and structural components of theformation of students’ linguistic competence in mother tongue education. Linguistic competenceis interpreted as an essential component of the modern competency-based approach and issubstantiated as consisting of lexical, grammatical, orthographic, punctuation, stylistic, and text-processing skills. The study also highlights the interrelationship of these components and theirsignificance in students’ communicative activities. The findings indicate that the systematic andcomprehensive development of linguistic competence contributes to improving students’ speechperformance, fostering independent thinking skills, and enhancing the practical use of languageresources.
