MEDIEVAL CITIES OF THE KHOREZM OASIS: URBANIZATION PROCESSES AND HISTORICAL-GEOGRAPHICAL CHARACTERISTICS

This article analyzes the urbanization processes of the medieval cities of the Khorezm oasis, their emergence, planning, and architectural features based on historical sources and archaeological research. The stages of formation of the first feudal cities in the oasis, their economic and political functions, as well as their position on the Great Silk Road are highlighted. The article synthesizes scientific data on the history of development, urban planning culture, and architectural monuments of major urban centers such as Qiyot, Urgench (Gurgench), Khazorasp, Mizdakhan, and Khiva.
