THE PSYCHOLINGUISTIC AND LINGUOCULTURAL NATURE OF THE CATEGORIES OF JOY AND SADNESS

This article examines the psycholinguistic and linguocultural features of the emotions of joy and sadness. These emotions are closely connected with a person’s inner state, thinking and speech activity. Joy and sadness are expressed in language through different words, phrases, metaphors, phraseological units and literary devices. The culture, traditions and worldview of each nation influence the way these emotions are represented in language. The article analyzes the meaning, communicative function and national-cultural content of linguistic units expressing joy and sadness. It also discusses the role of these categories in human psychology and communication.
