EXPRESSION OF TABOO WORDS AND EUPHEMISMS IN MARRIAGE DISCOURSE (BASED ON THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES)

This article will provide a comparative analysis of the communicative-pragmatic, linguocultural and discursive features of taboos and euphemisms in marriage discourse based on the materials of English and Uzbek languages. The analysis shows that in marriage discourse, tabooed units are expressed by euphemistic means rather than by direct use, and that this phenomenon serves to reduce communicative conflict, normalize social distancing and maintain the positive “face” (positive face) of the addressee.
