PSYCHOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF DEVELOPING CRITICAL THINKING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

This article examines the psychological foundations of developing critical thinking in primary school students from a theoretical and educational psychology perspective. The study analyzes the role of cognitive processes, reflection, metacognitive skills, learning motivation, emotional stability, and individual psychological characteristics in fostering critical thinking. Particular attention is given to the psychological mechanisms that enable children to evaluate information objectively, compare alternative viewpoints, construct logical arguments, and make independent decisions. The article also emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive educational environment, implementing interactive teaching methods, and applying individualized instructional approaches to enhance critical thinking. The findings suggest that the systematic development of critical thinking contributes significantly to learners' intellectual independence, creative potential, problem-solving abilities, and overall academic success during primary education.
