Abstract

The article provides a comparative philosophical analysis of the transformation of the relationship between morality and law during the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Particular attention is paid to the shift from the religious and moral unity characteristic of the Middle Ages to the relative differentiation of the functions of moral and legal regulation in the modern era, as well as to the role of the ideas of justice, duty, freedom, and natural law in this transformation.
