Inconsistent findings in the literature on the use of generative artificial intelligence in mathematics education have created a need to systematically distinguish its didactic opportunities from its methodological limitations. The aim of this study was to determine the role of generative artificial intelligence in task design, the support of explanatory reasoning, and the differentiation of the learning process. Inter-coder consistency was confirmed by a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.78. The coding matrix showed that task adaptation was the most frequently identified area across the analyzed sources and was recognized as a central component of the conceptual framework. Within the methodological limitations, issues related to assessment reliability and the uniformity of generated responses were predominant. The comparative synthesis indicated that the relative prominence of didactic opportunities was largely driven by topics closely related to practical implementation. An effect size of d = 0.62 indicated a moderate positive effect of generative tools in supporting the learning process. The findings suggest that generative artificial intelligence can be a useful tool for explaining mathematical concepts; however, its integration into classroom practice requires the coordinated management of task quality, assessment criteria, and academic integrity. The main contribution of the study is the development of a clear conceptual map of didactic opportunities, methodological limitations, and directions for future research based on systematic coding.
