THE IMPAC OF UNESKO HERITAJE ON TOURIDM IN THE ZARAFSHAN OASIS: A CASE STUDY OF THE ZARAFSHAN-KARAKUM CORRIDOR (2016-2025)

This article analyzes the impact of the Zarafshan–Karakum Corridor, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, on tourism development in the Zarafshan Valley during 2016–2025. The study demonstrates that the corridor’s historical and cultural significance, transboundary character, and UNESCO status have positively contributed to tourism development. However, insufficient management effectiveness, the need for restoration of cultural heritage sites, limited private-sector involvement, and environmental challenges hinder the full realization of its tourism potential. The study concludes that the effective utilization of cultural heritage resources depends on improving internal management and ensuring sustainable development, and it provides relevant practical recommendations.
