Abstract

This article presents a comparative-typological study of the linguistic and cognitive representation of four fundamental human emotions — anger, joy, fear, and regret — in the paremiological systems of English and Uzbek. The research material comprises examples drawn from authoritative lexicographic sources and paremiological dictionaries, with particular attention to their semantic similarities (universality) and national-cultural differences (specificity). The findings demonstrate that in both languages emotions are conceptualized through somatic metaphors, images of nature, and elements of everyday life. However, Uzbek paremias tend to emphasize collectivism and moral values, whereas English paremias show a stronger orientation toward individualism and rationalism.
