Abstract

This article substantiates the structure of an assessment instrument for evaluatingthe emotional intelligence of future primary school teachers and the pedagogicalprinciples underlying its development. The instrument is based on the cognitive, emotional-practical, reflective, and professional-identification criteria of the emotionalintelligence development model. It consists of a 45-item questionnaire and a 15-itemobservation sheet completed during teaching practice. The self-assessment section of thequestionnaire is supplemented with a knowledge test and tasks based on pedagogicalsituations. The self-assessment component was adapted to the context of primaryeducation based on D. V. Lyusin’s EmIn Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. The resultsfor each criterion are expressed as percentages and classified into three levels. Thereliability of the instrument is assessed during the first measurement stage of theexperimental study.
