Abstract

This article analyzes the pedagogical and psychological mechanisms for developingstudents’ research activities based on a heuristic approach. It is substantiated thatresearch activity is not limited to the acquisition of ready-made knowledge butencompasses understanding problem situations, formulating questions, proposinghypotheses, searching for information, analyzing evidence, comparing alternativesolutions, and reflectively evaluating one’s own activities. The psychological dimension ofthe heuristic approach is examined in relation to students’ cognitive needs, intrinsicmotivation, independent thinking, creative and critical thinking, and metacognitiveprocesses.
