Abstract

This article examines the intralinguistic transformation of units with barrier-free semantics that verbalize the concept of Barrierefreiheit in modern German from functional-semantic and discursive perspectives. Intralinguistic transformation is interpreted as the reorganization of the structural, semantic, and pragmatic properties of a linguistic unit under the influence of a specific communicative situation while preserving its conceptual core. The study identifies component substitution, attributive expansion, metaphorical renewal, contextual modification, and intertextual reinterpretation of units expressing barrier-free semantics as the principal mechanisms of transformation.
