Abstract
This article provides a theoretical and conceptual analysis of how social media influences psychological relationships in young families. Relevant scholarship was synthesized through comparative, thematic, and systems analysis. Six interconnected mechanisms were identified: digital distraction and reduced face-to-face communication; emotional intimacy; trust and jealousy; electronic surveillance and personal boundaries; social comparison; and positive communicative affordances. The analysis indicates that social media is neither an independent nor a single cause of family conflict. Its effects depend on the purpose and intensity of use, partners’ attachment patterns, pre-existing trust, and mutually agreed digital rules. Practical recommendations focus on open communication, phone-free shared time, respect for privacy boundaries, and joint management of digital habits.
